Setting the Tone with a Custom Logo Opener

We love visiting the Denver Botanic Gardens, so we were thrilled to learn that they started a film series in 2021.

We were asked to create a logo opener for their first film, Amache Rose.  The illustrative concept entailed a frame by frame animation of a rose growing on a solid black background. A burst of light then reveals the surrounding landscape. And as the camera pulls back, we show the scene on a film strip, that flies back into space and resolves into the DBF logo.

Using a black and white color palate and stop motion-esque movements, we tapped into a classic film esthetic to create a customized introduction to this beautiful film.

This will be an on going series, and we're looking foward to building each film it's own unique logo opener.

Film Strip BTS

It would've been very difficult to hand draw the flim strip flying back into space. So instead, we modeled a film strip in Cinema4D, added jpgs of our final shot as a material to each of the 1920x1080 film frames, and then animated it along a spline as the camera pulls out. Boom!
