DORA CCRD

Hey-Yo was tasked with creating a :30-second educational spot for DORA's Colorado Civil Rights Division (CCRD) to help inform the public about CO's Fair Housing regulations. Whether you're a renter, buyer or HOA member, you cannot be discriminated against when it comes to finding a safe place to live. And DORA's here to help protect those rights! We always love teaming up with Ben (notice that lovely VO!) and Postmodern, and this project was no exception. We feel so fortunate to be able to work with local CO agencies to help educate and empower our CO community.

Character Concepts

Check out our process for developing  the DORA CCRD characters! We used Procreate on the iPad Pro to quickly start the sketching process. Once we figured out our winning head and ear shape, it was off to the races to create a variety of characters that spanned age ranges, genders, sexual orientation, ethnicities, disabilities and race. Even though we eventually went with solid fill shapes, these initial sketches were very helpful in determining the overall look for our characters. 

Color Options Galore

After the character design was finalized, it was time to decide on color.  We presented three options (Cool, Modern Pop, and Earthy) that each provided a very distinct look.  Ultimatey, we decided to use the Cool tones, which gave a more playful and abstract rendering to our characters and world.
